NEWPORT, R.I. (Sept. 14, 2016) – For sailing and boating enthusiasts looking to protect and upgrade their boat’s decking or flooring, Performance SailTools will be at the Newport International Boat Show (Tent G, Booth 5) to show them how to do it right with SeaDek closed-cell EVA marine nonskid. The alternative to molded-in or painted-on nonskid for decks and carpet down below, SeaDek features non-slip characteristics that sailors and boaters can appreciate no matter where it’s installed.
SeaDek not only provides excellent traction for slippery decks, cockpits, cabin floors and swim platforms but also protects boat surfaces against scratches, chips and dents and covers spider cracks and other surface imperfections. UV resistant, lightweight, durable, comfortable and cool, SeaDek is also self-adhesive, making it easy to install. There are several different thicknesses from which to choose (3mm, 5mm, and 6mm are most common); 16 different colors that can be mixed and matched for over 200 color combinations; and the ability to incorporate boat names, logos and other designs. There’s even a popular option that gives a teak look without the maintenance!

Fabrication and Installation
If Performance SailTools doesn’t already have a particular boat make or type on file, the company sends a trained specialist to digitize the layout of the boat, or the boat owner can request a DIY template kit. Once the layout has been captured, the new SeaDek boat decking or flooring is designed in a CAD program and routed with a CNC machine (automated by precisely programmed commands) at Performance SailTools in Newport, Rhode Island.
Depending on the project, the boat owner may want to install the final product or have a SeaDek specialist from Performance SailTools install it to assure a perfect fit and finish. All SeaDek decking and flooring material is pre-treated with a backing of 3M™ pressure sensitive adhesive, which is applied and inspected at the SeaDek manufacturing facility in Florida.
